A Building Energy Rating (BER) Certificate helps you to understand the energy efficiency of a home. It is a good indicator of how much you will spend and how much carbon you will produce to heat the home to a comfortable level.

A BER certificate rates your home's energy performance on a scale between A and G. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient while G-rated are the least energy efficient.

A BER Cert is a must-have for sellers, renters, and those pursuing SEAI energy grants or mortgages. It’s mandatory for buildings constructed, sold, or rented post-January 1, 2009. With our certification services, you’ll show that you comply with standards.

Exemptions include protected structures, national monuments, places of worship, non-residential agricultural buildings, standalone structures under 50 sq/m, and industrial buildings with installed heat capacity under 10W/m2.

Your BER is calculated based on the amount of energy your home requires for space heating, hot water heating, ventilation, the building fabric and lighting. In order to complete this calculation, your BER Assessor will need to collect information on various aspects of your home.

To collect this information, your BER Assessor will need access to all areas of your home including the attic, lighting systems, ventilation, meter cupboards, heating systems and controls, hot press and all doors and windows. During the BER assessment, you BER Assessor will collect information which will include a number of calculations, measurements and photographic evidence of each of these aspects of your home.

Our assessor will arrive at your house at the scheduled time. We will do a full survey of the property, this may take anywhere from 30 mins up to 2 hours.
